Some of our politicians say that the people of Scotland should not have the right to vote for or against independence for Scotland in a referendum.

We say that the ordinary people in Scotland should have the right to make this vital decision about our country’s future. Whatever your views on independence - if you want the right to vote on this, sign our petition.

It’s our future.

Come on Scotland, let's unite and free ourselves from a UK that England is destroying and dragging us down with it. All in scotland would benefit from freedom and the power to make our own decisions.

Westminster panic at the thought of independence because they wouldn't have our oil money to line their pockets and fund their second homes. Can be far better spent on Scotlands schools, health, roads and those less fortunate.

Let's take a leaf out of our Celtic neighbours and free ourselves from this farce. we would all be better for it.

Salmond for first Scottish president.

Colin Duffy 08/06/10

It`s a shame that we have to fight for what should be ours in the first place. If Alex Salmond comes across to some as a whinging money grabber then so be it. Full control of our finances will put an end to this once and for all. Such a shame that labour, tories and lib dems are persueing there undemocratic agenda in Scotland to let the people decide where we are heading.

Elizabeth Adamson 20/05/10

Stand up Scotland. I hope Scotland gets its well deserved freedom and indpenendence -- i hope it happens in my lifetime. I'm proud to be Scottish not British. Scotland would be far better off alone. Don't be fooled or held down any longer.

Chris Paul 29/03/10
Brittain is Dominated by England. Scotland has a proud history. But the present and future is overthrown by English. Time to stop English discrimination. So it is time to get independence for this great Land. Time to rise as a proud Nation Once again. Our dream is an independent Scotland.

David 18/02/10
we hav to fight for our independance the english hav controld us to long they decide everything for us we have to stand on our own 2 feet and make it count

Darryl Steele 18/02/10

Scottish not British

Independence for our identity back as scots, not brits

and for a more peaceful country,  that doesnt get involved in wars that doesnt concern us,  that today is terrorising the people in Iraq,

Also bein apart of a union just takes the Nationalism away from everybody,  look at the irish,   every irishman a see all wear ireland tops  = proud nation,  which left, and got independence from britian,

a see Ireland as a role model to Scotland for that,  as they left the same union,  and a see  Norway as a role model also,  as they left a union,  and took full control of oil revenues,  and are doing well

In my experience as a Scot, we are awarded great respect from other nations around the world. Every holiday I take people seem excited to meet a scot, and this one time in Rome I was given a free tour of the colosseum after hours when tours had finished for the day purely because I was Scottish. We are a nation of greats and as such deserve the right to govern ourselves. Absolutely nothing against the English, but we are a nation and a nation needs to govern itself.

Scotland has a full right to restore its independence as London recognized unilateral and illegal move of Kosovo and after Britain's heavy participation in illegal aggression on Serbia and Montenegro.

I'm an Irish man from the north of Eire and lived in Dundee for six years and loved it. Great people and a great country, but one thing always got me. The Scottish have no fire in their billies. You fear to much what could happen if you were to stand on you own two feet, that you'll some how be unable to afford or run your own country, that without the english there to tell you what to do, you'll have no future. Pure Rubbish. The Scottish people are among some of the greatest people I've met in my life, you have a country full of resources and brain's. You just have to start believing in yourselves and stop listening to the English propaganda and be warned, as you get closer to you goal the more lies they'll tell and the BBC is the worst for it. I know this first hand from our own problems. They'll have you believe we're all happy over here with our new peace and every one's behind it. Not so, the only reason we voted for it was to get the english out, if it falls, back to war we while go and until the english realise this, we will repeat the past until we are free too. Any way best of luck to the SNP and the Scottish people.

I now live in Australia but am still very patriotic. In my many travels most people think that the UK "is England". They do not realise that we are a seperate country within a country. Obviously this is very bad news for businesses in that foreigners will not know the brand "SCOTLAND".Therefore for success and wealth creation, Scotland needs to sell itself and become seperate and proud. They need to tell the rest of the world. ALL THE BEST FOR THE CAUSE!

Given the reports over the weekend that the Scottish Government will amend their referendum bill to a multi-option question, something I believe the Convention was previously (still is?) opposed to (preferring a straight independence Vs shackled to the union question, why not proceed down a third way...? The referendum as proposed by the SNP was always, due to the constitutional arrangements under the union, a consultative one only. Any final decision (whether multi-question or not) would still have to be decided by London. There is no need therefore to necessarily have a referendum bill put through the Scottish Parliament. In Ireland a "national Loan" scheme was established to help fund the fledgling Irish Free State. Irish people were encouraged to by national bonds in the scheme set up under then Finance Minister Michael Collins. Why does the Scottish Government not do the same and then allocate these funds to an independent electoral commission to run the referendum with a straight yes no question. The estimated cost of running such a referendum is put at £7million. I am certain that sum could be raised in a short period of time and thus by-pass the "never, never, never" mentality of British unionists at the Scottish Parliament.

I am getting old , I would lie to see my country independent before popping my clogs - it ain't much use afterwards , lets face it!

I want a country free of WMDs, free to decide how to defend itself , free to say "no" to an illegal war invitation, free to work for her own people regardless of creed or colour.

Chad West 09/08/09

Scotland should be able to decide for itself whether or not to enter illegal wars in Iraq, Scotland should be able to decide how much money our government shall receive, Scotland, as a nation, should be independent - it's normality.

Too many Scots are afraid of change and until we find the courage to win independence we'll remain a slave to Westminster.

I'm backing Alex Salmond and the SNP.

L. Savage 21/06/09
Keep up the good fight, as we will in Texas. If you get the Glenn Beck show our Prez will be on Tuesday, June 23, 4pm Fox Cable Network - Central Time Zone.

Wardog 17/06/09
Support a referendum, let the Scottish people decide democratically on their own future.

Craig 25/05/09
Lets not let them strip our nation of any more of our great resourses, culture ,traditions, music, laguange, media and rights. We simply want Liberty. The chance to make our own descions about our native land that we all so love and treasure. Let us Govern ourselfs, Let them Govern themselfs for the better of our nations. Let us make our own mistakes and create our own success.

Kenny McCallion 22/05/09
I agree with Anne Wrad 15/11/09. At least they are doing something to help make us a Nation we can all be proud of instead of looking for scraps under the english table, the scum down south and they're Scottish traitors like Brown and co, can't afford to loose us. LETS RISE UP AND BE A NATION AGAIN.

Ryan Arton 12/05/09
i think scotland should be a free nation like we were before the english united us!

Gillian Smith 28/03/09

Im behind you all the way!

Scotland a nation
Scotland a brand
Look to the future
Together we stand

Learn from our history
Move forward in time
Create a new vision
For a country that’s mine.

Dont let this be a dream, make it reality!

Éamonn 18/03/09
I agree, let the people decide. I would love the see the day when Scotland was independent & free to decide its own destiny.

James Foster 06/03/09
I dont know why we are even debating this. The people of scotland need to find the courage to stand up and fight for what they believe in- Independance now!

Jim McDonald 25/02/09

Let's have this referendum and end this ridiculous independence campaign once and for all.

Salmond and the SNP are making Scotland look like whinging money-grabbers and it's humiliating.

Robert Ingram 19/02/09
I and the Scottish Enterprise Party of which I am a member fully support the resumption of Scottish Independence from the Unions with the UK and the EUSSR.
